View of the Bonus Army, as they were encamped at Ideal Park near Johnstown in 1932 after being forced out of Washington, D.C. Called the Bonus Expeditionary Forces by its organizers, this was a group of World War I veterans, their families and affiliated groups who gathered in Washington, D.C., in the spring and summer of 1932 to demand the immediate cash payment of the service bonuses they had received in the form of certificates they could not redeem until 1945.
